How to Check In

The Alamance County Sunday Evening Net is a directed net, which means all transmissions are coordinated through Net Control. The net runs on the 2 meter repeater (146.670 MHz). Here's how to check in for the first time:

  1. Tune to 146.670 MHz — no CTCSS tone needed (CSQ). Set your offset to −0.600 MHz.
  2. Listen before transmitting. The net starts at 8:00 PM sharp. A two-minute warning is typically given at 7:58 PM.
  3. When Net Control calls your suffix letter group, key up, count to two, then give your callsign, first name, and location.
  4. Check-ins are by suffix letter: A–G, then H–N, then O–T, then U–Z.
  5. List any traffic, announcements, or bulletins you have. If you need to leave after the formal session, say "Out after formal."
  6. Relax and enjoy! After formal business, the net opens up for informal discussion.

New to nets?

Don't be nervous — every ham on frequency was new once. Net Control will guide you through it. We're glad you're here.
